Sheriff-patrolIt was an elderly man from Sumner who died in flash flooding early Wednesday morning near Lawler.

The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department today released the name of the man who died after his vehicle was swept away from running water Wednesday morning. The Sheriff’s Department says the victim was 77-year-old Albert Gott of Sumner.

Searchers found Gott’s empty vehicle near Lawler late Wednesday morning. They found his body between Lawler and Protivin Wednesday afternoon. Gott called 9-1-1 at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday to report he was stranded on the roof of his pick-up.
