Three men are sentenced to federal prison in connection with what prosecutors call a “heroin distribution ring” in eastern Iowa.
Twenty-six-year-old Alfred Jackson, 45-year-old Jason Dawson and 49-year-old Curtis Kemp all lived in Iowa City. All three were sentenced this week.
Jackson and Kemp went on trial in Davenport and were found guilty by a jury in April. Dawson testified against the other two.
Dawson will do 12 years in prison under his plea agreement. Kemp got a six-and-a-half year sentence. Jackson, the youngest of the three men, will do the most time — almost 16 years.
Dawson told jurors it was the 26-year-old who gave him the heroin to sell to about 20 customers in the Iowa City area. Dawson and Kemp were arrested after they sold heroin to an undercover agent.
