Iowa State coach Matt Campbell says Joel Lanning remains the Cyclones’ starting quarterback but says that position will be evaluated in practice this week. Lanning completed eight of 20 passes in Saturday’s loss to Iowa for 86 yards and one interception. Jacob Park entered the game in the third quarter and connected on six of 15 passes for 79 yards.

Campbell had hinted at lineup changes following the 42-3 loss to the Hawkeyes.

“I don’t know if I forecast any major changes right now but I think that is what practice is for”, said Campbell. “But as we go out to Tuesday practice Joel Lanning is our starting quarterback right now.”

It won’t matter who the quarterback is if the Cyclones can’t find a way to limit mistakes. ISU has been penalized 19 times in two games and had several alignment penalties in the loss at Iowa and numerous times were penalized for having an ineligible receiver down field.

“It is really frustrating when you get penalties because it can bring back a play”, said Cyclone senior guard Patrick Scoggins. “This season there have been so many good plays that have been called back because of penalties and that is a really frustrating feeling.”

The Cyclones open Big-12 Conference play on Saturday with a visit to TCU.
