Villisca man dies after car is hit by train

September 12, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

AmbulanceA collision between a train and a vehicle Saturday night in southwest Iowa has claimed the life of a Montgomery County man.

Authorities say 26-year-old Bradley Lee Dumler of Villisca died when his vehicle was struck by a Burlington Northern-Sante Fe train just before 11:30 p.m. in Villisca. The accident occurred at the 7th Avenue train crossing.

An investigation determined Dumler’s vehicle was stopped in the middle of the crossing between the rail arms prior to being hit by the eastbound train. Authorities say all railway markers, lights and stop arms were in working order before and after the accident.
