Fatal police shooting in Cedar Rapids under investigation

Police-lights-300x192The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been called in a man was shot to death by Cedar Rapids police officers.

A news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department says officers were called to the Valley High Apartments on the city’s northwest side around 9:30 Monday for a domestic disturbance. The report says a 25-year old male was shot and was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The name of the man who was shot is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The news release says it is an ongoing investigation and the names of the officers and other details will not be released until after the officers have been interviewed by the DCI.
