UPDATE:

Cedar Rapids Police spokesperson Greg Buelow says officers were called around 8 a.m. found a girl with a gunshot wound to the head.

“Unfortunately, we’ve got two juveniles and a young adult who intentionally shot a 13-year-old female,” Buelow said. “Obviously, we’re very disturbed by this.” Witnesses provided responding officers with descriptions of the suspects, who were all arrested within 10 minutes of the initial call, according to Buelow.

“They located the suspects running in an alleyway and were able to apprehend them a few blocks away from where the shooting occurred,” Buelow said. The names of the victim and suspects have not been released. Police recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shooting.

“We believe the three suspects are the only ones involved in the shooting incident and there’s no danger to the public,” Buelow said. Investigators are not yet speculating on motive.

“We believe they all knew each other and there was some type of a disagreement or some issue that came up, but that’s part of the ongoing investigation,” Buelow said.
