Man dies when truck hits deer head-on

Police car lightsA Muscatine motorist has died after colliding with a deer.

It happened Tuesday morning on Iowa Highway 38 just north of Muscatine. Thirty-seven-year-old Alek Cuellar was headed south when a deer ran onto the highway and his pickup truck hit it head on. The truck then left the road and stopped near a tree.

Cuellar, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to a Muscatine hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
