Fire-truckThe State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire that destroyed Fort Dodge Asphalt Company Thursday night.

The fire started at about 7:30 p.m. Firefighters from Fort Dodge and surrounding communities battled the blaze for several hours. There were reports of several explosions from miscellaneous tanks that may have sparked the fire. The building is considered a total loss. There were no injuries reported.

A vehicle parked inside the building was also destroyed. The damage estimate is expected to be several hundred thousand dollars.
