Two people are hospitalized and a man is facing attempted murder charges following a stabbing in Cedar Falls.

Police were sent to University Avenue Studios just after 4:30 p.m. Monday and found the building’s manager, 47-year-old Denice Bennett, and a tenant, 62-year-old Jeffery Miller, had been stabbed multiple times.

Cedar Falls Police Captain Mike Hayes says another tenant, 28-year-old Adam Jacobsen, was arrested. “We are still looking at details as to what occurred and why it occurred,” Hayes said. Jacobsen has an “extensive” arrest record, according to Hayes.

While the motive in Monday’s incident remains unclear, Hayes says it appears the victims were randomly chosen. “It is fair to say that it was random. (Jacobsen) just went out into the parking lot and randomly chose people who were out there,” Hayes said. There’s no word on the victim’s conditions, although Hayes said both Bennett and Miller had serious and possibly life-threatening injuries when they were rushed to the hospital on Monday.
