Shooting near skyscraper, sports arena in downtown Des Moines

Police-lightsA 14-year-old boy is in critical condition in a Des Moines hospital after being shot in the head.

The shooting happened early Monday evening, in downtown Des Moines. Police found a bullet hole in a nearby bank. The shooting victim was taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle. The crime scene is about a half-mile north of the state’s tallest building and seven blocks west of Wells Fargo Arena.

Des Moines police have asked commuters who passed through the area to contact police, even if they did not witness the shooting or see anything suspicious.
