November 8, 2016 By Matt Kelley

AmbulanceA college student has died from injuries suffered in a fall while celebrating the Chicago Cubs’ World Series victory.

Johnson County authorities say 21-year-old Kyle Leeney fell after climbing a light pole outside a bar in downtown Iowa City. The incident happened last Wednesday night shortly after the Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years.

Leeney, a Lockport, Illinois native, died on Monday. He was a sophomore at the University of Iowa majoring in mechanical engineering. Lockport is a Chicago suburb.
