Fire-marshal-truckAmes fire investigators have released the name of a woman who died in a house fire Monday.

The woman has been identified as 72-year-old Joanna Alexander. Ames firefighters were called out to Alexander’s home by an automatic smoke alarm from a private fire alarm monitoring company at 10 A.M. Monday. The found smoke coming from the home and were able to quickly take Alexander from the home and put out the fire.

The Fire Investigation Team which includes a member of the State Fire Marshal’s office is still determining the cause but indicated the fire was accidental and is believed to have started near a chair in the living room. A cause of death for Alexander has not been released.
