Blairstown man dies from crash after swerving for deer

police-lights-300x192-300x192An eastern Iowa man has died in a car crash after he swerved to avoid hitting a deer.

The crash happened around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday on a roadway south of Blairstown. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reports 44-year-old Laffite Pierre of Blairstown lost control of his car as he evaded a deer. The vehicle entered the ditch and struck a driveway, sending the vehicle airborne.

Pierre was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
