The 21st ranked Iowa State Cyclones were held scoreless for the final three minutes of the game and lost to 11th ranked Gonzaga 73-71 in the championship game of the Advocare Invitational in Orlando. The Cyclones had roared back from an 18 point second half deficit.

“I am really proud of our guys and proud of our toughness”, said Iowa State coach Steve Prohm. “In the second half we were just a completely different team.”

Deonte Burton capped an impressive tournament by scoring 29 points, including 21 in the second half. He also added 12 rebounds. Naz Mitrou-Long added 16 points as the Cyclones fall to 5-1 on the season.

“We dug a hole that was tough to get out of”, said Mitrou-Long. You have got to credit Gonzaga and the way they shot the ball.”

ISU hosts Cincinnati on Thursday.
