The third finalist for University of Northern Iowa president is the current chancellor at Montana State University.

Mark Nook has been chancellor at the Montana School since 2014. Before that he held several positions in the University of Wisconsin system, including interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Nook graduated with a degree in physics and mathematics from Southwest Minnesota State University, then got a masters degree in astrophysics from Iowa State University in 1983. He went on to get a doctorate in astronomy from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and taught before moving into administration. Nook will hold a public forum on campus Thursday.

The first candidate forum was held Tuesday with former Temple University president Neil Theobald. The second candidate forum is scheduled today with current interim president Jim Wohlpart. The search committee is expected to select a new president next week.
