Second person dies following Algona house fire

June 28, 2017 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A second person has died after a house fire in northern Iowa last week.

The fire on June 20th in Algona killed 29-year-old Jessica Lierley Southard of Des Moines. Now, officials say her aunt — 69-year-old Karen Lierley, who lived in the home — has died from her injuries.

Southard’s mother, 63-year-old Patrice Lierley, was treated and released from a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials believe it was accidental.
