Pedestrian hit and killed near Epworth

(Update) The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman who died after being hit by a vehicle south of Epworth Tuesday afternoon.

The woman has been identified as 82-year old Lois Smith. Investigators say Smith was crossing Placid Road shortly after 4:30 p-m when she was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by 80-year old William Conrad of Epworth. Smith died from her injuries. Investigators are still working on the case and no charges have been filed.

A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Dubuque County on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened south of Epworth on Placid Road shortly after 4:30 p.m. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says an 80-year old Epworth man was driving north when he struck an 82-year old woman crossing the road. The woman died as a result of her injuries.

The names of those involved are expected to be released later today.
