Unemployment claims drop below 100,000

The number of ongoing unemployment claims dropped by 11,463 last week and overall those claims fell below 100,000 for the first time since April 11th.

First-time unemployment claims fell by more than 1,000 and are at their lowest level since the coronavirus pandemic hit. The are now  at 5,282  — with a majority of them coming from manufacturing.

It is the fourth straight week where overall unemployment claims dropped.
