State officials say it appears a 46-year-old man from Minnesota died Saturday while hunting squirrels in northeastern Iowa.

Department of Natural Resoures Conservation Officers found the man’s body at Fish Farm Mounds. It’s a wildlife area near New Albin. A DNR news release describes the incident as “a fatal hunting accident,” but provided no other details.

Iowa’s squirrel and rabbit hunting season started last Monday.
