Clive Police say they arrested the state librarian on charges of Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor.
A statement from police says 53-year-old Michael Lynn Scott, of Clive had been communicating through a messaging app, with a deputy who he thought was a 14-year-old male, and sent graphic video and still images to the deputy.
Scott has been the state librarian since 2014.
