A southwest Iowa man is charged in the death of his daughter.

Twenty-five-year-old Corbin Loudermilk, of Atlantic was charged April 4th with first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death, following an investigation into an incident that took place January 4th in Atlantic.

According to a criminal complaint, the one-month old child suffered head injuries that caused brain swelling and hemorrhaging. Doctors at a hospital in Omaha concluded the injuries were consistent with head trauma from a possible impact and possibly shaken baby syndrome. The child died two-days later.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy, and ruled out natural or accidental causes of death, and ruled the trauma was the result of a homicide.

Loudermilk was being one $1-million bond in the Cass County Jail. His preliminary hearing is set for April 17th.

Loudermilk was previously charged with possession of a controlled substance/marijuana- 1st offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His preliminary hearing on the controlled substance charge was set at April 24th.
