A 19-year-old Marshalltown man is jailed in connection with a baby’s death in August.
Marshalltown police were notified of a suspicious infant death at UnityPoint Health Marshalltown ER on August 29th.
Court documents indicate the child had “multiple injuries on head and body.” On Wednesday, police arrested Yonatan Miguel Vasquez-Avalos.
Court filings show that Vasquez-Avalos left the infant at home to go out and drink. When he returned home, he found the child unresponsive.
He’s charged with first-degree murder, child endangerment causing death, and domestic assault with strangulation, all felonies.
