An Iowan was one of three students from Mankato, Minnesota, killed in a crash Tuesday that left three others hospitalized. The Iowa student’s identified as 21-year-old Wesley Loutsch of Remsen. The engineering students had designed the car they were taking to a competition in Detroit. Sean Andriossi a spokesman for the Society of Automotive Engineers Formula Competition, says everyone’s thoughts and prayers are with the families of the students, and it’s taken a heavy toll on the entire Minnesota State (Mankato) community. Authorities say the driver of the van lost control, crossed the median, and the van was hit by two semis.
