Dry weather last week help farmers make progress on the harvest. The weekly state Agriculture Department crop report says the tractors and combines were moving through the fields at a good clip last week as the weather conditions allowed farmers to get into the fields each day of the week. The corn harvest benefited as 78-percent of the corn crop is now in. That’s well ahead of the same pace last year when farmers had only brought in 58-percent of the corn by this time. It’s also three days ahead of the five-year average. The soybean harvest is all but complete with 98-percent of the beans out of the fields.
