Jordan Eglseder has yet to play in a varsity basketball game at Bellevue Marquette High School but he already knows where he will play in college. The 6-foot 9-inch sophomore has accepted a scholarship offer from U-N-I coach Greg McDermott, even though he won’t turn 16 until next August. Marquette coach Jim Squires says they’ve been watching Eglseder’s progress since junior high, and says they knew he was doing to be an excellent basketball player. Squires says the potential is there if he works hard. He says Eglseder caught the eye of the U-N-I coaches during the summer when he attended a couple of camps. He’s only 15 years old, so his coach says he could still grow. Eglseder won’t be able to sign with the Panthers until the fall of his senior year. What happens if the country’s top programs become interested in the next two years? He says that’s a decision he would have to make, though he’s given a verbal commitment to UNI.
