After a first day of rainy play, the Girls’ State Golf Tournament finished up with better weather. Eldora-New Providence won their third straight title class 1A title with a 669 total, Aurelia was second with 714 and Mason City Newman was third. Grinnell also snagged its third straight title winning in class 2A with a 672, Waukon finished in second place with a 678 and Forest City finished third. Ankeny took the class 3A title with a 653, while Cedar Falls finished second and Marshalltown in third. Eldora-New Providence’s Christie Athas finished as medalist for the third straight time. She says it feels great, but she couldn’t do it without her team.Athas says repeating as medalist took more effort this year. She says it was tougher this year as there was a lot of tough competition.
