The Central College softball team is ranked third nationally in division three but the Dutch trail Wartburg by a game in the Iowa Conference Standings. Central will take a 6-2 league record into Saturday’s doubleheader at home against Loras and coach George Wares says the conference race has been a tough as expected. He says you have to be ready to play every day and that makes it enjoyable. Wares says the key down the stretch will be sweeping doubleheaders and not settling for splits. Wares says Loras has made strides under first-year coach Mary Jo Vrba. He says they’ve been scoring a lot of runs and had a good trip out to California.
