Residents of Newton will gather tonight to remember one of their own who’s still missing in New York City. Family, friends and neighbors of 55-year old Jim Cleere will gather at his Newton home tonight. Cleere is the assistant vice president of telecommunications for Seebury and Smith of Des Moines. He was in New York on business at the time of the terrorist attacks. Cleere telephoned his wife after the second plane crashed and told her he was in a hotel between the two buildings. Cleere hasn’t been heard from since that call, and is listed as missing by New York police. Organizers of tonight’s candlelight ceremony hope it will bolster his family.
