Missouri Congressman Dick Gephardt’s due in Iowa this weekend to campaign for Congressman Leonard Boswell. Gephardt, who won Iowa’s democratic caucus in 1988, sidesteps the question of whether this is part of a prelude to a presidential race in 2004. Gephardt is the leader of democrats in the U-S House, and he says his focus is on the 2002 election. He says he’s really focused on winning back Democratic control of the House.Gephardt says the Gary Condit affair won’t hamper democrat chances in 2002. He says only the voters in his district will have to decide the issue.Gephardt says the focus should be on finding missing intern Chandra Levy, and Gephardt says Condit “is and will be cooperating with police.”
