Linn County health officials are trying to determine the origin of a bacterial illness that hit a Cedar Rapids elementary school. Four children from Polk elementary became ill from the Shigeala bacteria. The bacteria causes cramping and diarrhea. One of the children had to be hospitalized for dehydration. A health official says the bacteria can be easily passed along if you don’t properly wash your hands after going to the bathroom.
