The state Transportation Commission has approved grants to three Iowa cities to help them bring in new jobs. Department of Transportation spokesman Harry Budd says grants for Albia and Pella will help the cities improve streets to their industrial parks in the hopes of luring in new companies.Albia’s grant is 174-thousand-550 dollars and Pella’s is 416-thousand-250 dollars. The grants are part of the RISE or “Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy” program and help build streets. Budd says Webster City is also getting a grant of $108,996.to help Tasler Incorporated create 37 new jobs.The grants to Albia and Pella will pay for 50-percent of those street projects, while the grant to Webster City pays for 80-percent of the street project.
