Eastern Iowa leads the state in a troubling health category. Scott County has recorded 30 “Hepatitus A” cases this year — the highest incidence of the disease in the county this decade. Roma Taylor a disease prevention specialist for Scott County’s health department says symptoms often appear after a person’s been infected for a few weeks.Taylor says the best way to combat the disease is a good handwashing with plenty of soap and warm water. If you sing “Happy Birthday” twice, that’s enough time to wash off the germs. Symptoms include yellowing of eyes and skin, tiredness and nausea. Hepatitus A is a viral infection of the liver.Tom Kramer, WOC, Davenport
