A potentially-deadly disease is diagnosed in a northwestern Iowa child, but health officials say all precautions are being taken to prevent it from spreading.An unnamed LeMars boy was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis Friday. The emergency room doctor at Floyd Valley Hospital says the child came in contact with many other kids at daycare & kindergarten as well as several adults at a Halloween party.Dr. Sheila Holcombe says the child’s condition is improving.Bacterial meningitis is fatal in about one in every ten cases. It marks the 36th case in the state this year, NONE of which have been fatal.
