A group of Iowa residents and officials from seven countieshave joined forces to save the Loess Hills. The hills of glacial silt arehome to many rare species and habitats. Iowa’s top Republicans have proposedsix-million dollars in spending to preserve the area, while others arepushing for the creation of a national park. State Senator Steve King is pleased with the formation of the LoessHills Alliance and hopes they have some proposals for lawmakers soon.
