Final preparations are underway for the U-S Senior Open which will be heldat the Des Moines Golf and Country Club in July. Defending champion HaleIrwin got a look at the course and feels it will serve as a good host forthe championship. He says the adavnced sellout of tickets is proof of theamount of interest in the tournament.Irwin says the players look forward to bringing the Senior Open to a newvenue.Irwin got a peek at the course but says that won’t help because officialsfrom the United States Golf Association will make it more difficult to playby the time the seniors tee off in six weeks.Tournament General Chairman Bob Murray spearheaded the effort by the DesMoines Golf and Country Club to host the event and says it is exciting tosee it come about.Murray says it takes a lot of work by a club to host an event like theSenior Open.Murray says nearly every club in the country would like to host a U-Schampionship.
