Halloween has attained third-place for alcohol sales behind New Year’s Eveand Superbowl Sunday. Iowans are being urged to use common sense whileattending Halloween parties and to keep a very close eye on theirtrick-or-treating kids by walking along with them.Ranisa (rah-NIS-ah) Rubin, a spokeswoman for the Insurance InformationInstitute, says kids and parents should know not to eat any candy that’scome unwrapped or homemade treats unless they’re from someone known. With Beggar’s Night coming up this week in communities across Iowa, Rubinsays kids need to use their noggins to have a safe and uneventful evening ofcandy mooching.Last year, more than 20-percent of all Halloween weekend accidents werealcohol-related.
