A census in four of Iowa’s most heavily-populated Hispanic areas is being launched this week. Organizers say it will encompass much more than just counting heads in homes.Arlinda McKeen is a vice president of the State Public Policy Group. She says the survey will cover Story, Dallas, Marshall & Polk counties. McKeen says the census will entail a lot more than just tallying the numbers, as it aims to learn about the lives of Latinos.There was concern people who don’t understand English very well might fear taking part in a survey of this nature. McKeen says they’re going to great lengths to make Latinos comfortable with participating.McKeen says the survey should generate demographic information about Latinos’ employment, education, health care and other details.
