An early morning fire destroyed an eastern Iowa church. Firefighters were called to the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Central City around 5:30 this morning. Witnesses believe the fire started in a new addition to the church, but fire officials haven’t determined the cause. The church was founded in 1932 and has about 500 parishoners.
