Civil War swords, butter churns or Bugs Bunny coffee mugs from the 1950s: Iowans will be able to bring whatever items they hold valuable to the State Historical Society of Iowa today for a lesson in preservation.Roger Munns, the public relations manager for the Historical Society, says today’s “Collector’s Clinic” is open to any Iowan who wants to bring in any heirloom to learn about how to best display and preserve it.Munns says historical conservationists from Iowa and Nebraska will be at the Des Moines facility today to answer questions and to lead workshops.For more information, call (515) 281-6058.
