A conference that opens in Des Moines today focuses on improving the healthof Iowans. It’s called the “Governor’s Conference on Public Health:Barnraising Three.” Dr. Louise Lex of the State Health Departmentis the coordinator of the event. Lex says it’s called a “barnraising” as asymbol of the total community effort it takes to keep people healthy. Lexsays the two day conference features nearly 700 state and national expertson various health topics. They’ll also talk about child abuse. Theconference is today and tomorrow at Drake University.
