Winnebago Industries plans to either build a new manufacturing plant or renovate an existing facility as it expands manufacturing capacity by 30-percent. Winnebago Chairman, C-E-O, and President Bruce Hertzke says the recreational vehicle industry is seeing a significant growth and the company needs to grow as well. The R-V giant is based in the northern Iowa town of Forest City in, appropriately, Winnebago County. Hertzke says they are currently looking at all options on whether to expand an existing plant or build a new plant elsewhere.Hertzke says he’d like to see the company expand or build in Iowa or someplace close by.He’d prefer to stay in the centralized Midwest because an East or West Coast facility would be too far from the other coast for deliveries. Winnebago has its main manufacturing plant and headquarters in Forest City, as well as facilities in Charles City, Hampton, and Lorimor.
