Iowa congressman Leonard Boswell says Secretary of State Colin Powell made a strong case at the U-N today for the existence of dangerous weapons in Iraq. As a member of the Intelligence Committee, Boswell says he’s closely followed the discussion about Saddam’s threat, in public and within the intelligence community, and thinks Hussein does have weapons of mass destruction. Iowa’s only democratic congressman says Powell produced impressive evidence of that, in his presentation today. As a more than 20-year military veteran including Vietnam, Boswell says he still hopes for a peaceful way to disarm Saddam. As the use of force appears more imminent, Boswell says he hopes the administration will expand its coalition with the international community and keep the American people informed. Boswell says the U-N was created to resolve conflicts, and says through international cooperation every effort should be made to resolve the situation in Iraq to make the world safer and demonstrate the concept of respect for the rule of law.
