A Minnesota man is charged after a wreck early Sunday morning that killed a northeast Iowa teenager who was heading for a post-prom breakfast with friends.A car driven by 22-year-old Damir Mekic of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, collided with a carload of high school kids in Waterloo. 18-year-old Keely Lyons, of Traer, was killed and three other teens injured. Mekic was arrested for vehicular homicide, failure to stop at a red light, and driving on a suspended license, which was revoked due to a drunk driving conviction. The accident happened the morning after the teen’s prom night and North Tama High School officials called the entire 51-student senior class yesterday to tell them about the crash, while crisis counselors will be at the school this morning.
