A Sioux City woman is complaining because her daughter was "tazered" this past weekend. Earlier this year, a University of Florida student’s arrest was caught on videotape after he disrupted a John Kerry speech. "Don’t taze me, bro," the student yelled at police. "Don’t taze me. I didn’t do anything." The student then started howling, "Ow," and asking for help.
Now, a woman in Sioux City plans to complain to the city council because police used a tazer on her 13-year-old daughter to stop a fight among girls at a roller skating rink. According to the police report, there was kicking, biting and scratching going on as two girls at the rink got into a fight Friday night. The 13-year-old and her sister were arrested.
The older sister, who jumped onto a police officer to try to stop them from using the tazer on her sibling, remains in juvenile detention because of a parole violation. The mother says her daughter shouldn’t have been fighting, but she says her 13-year-old was humiliated in front of her peers because cops used the tazer. Denise Kearnes plans to lodge her complaint at the Sioux City City Council meeting this afternoon. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
