A nine-month-old child was taken to the hospital after it was found left alone in a parked car in Waterloo on Wednesday. The baby was discovered around noon when a police officer noticed a car parked on the wrong side of the road in the 800 block of West Second Street in Waterloo’s downtown.

The police officer looked inside the car and found the child. The baby was conscious, but sweaty. It’s unknown how long the infant had been in the car. Paramedics took the child to the hospital. Police found the baby’s mother in an apartment building nearby.

She was taken into custody. The names of the child and the mother have not been released.
