The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled the Marion SchoolDistrict should is not responsible for the conduct of its curriculumcounselor. Luke Godar has charged counselor Gerald Edwards sexually abusedwhile he attended Marion schools and had sued the district. He says he metEdwards through Boy Scouts, but some of the abuse occurred on schoolproperty. The court has ruled the district is not liable for the abuse becausethe accusations did not occur in the scope of Edwards’ job.
