Republicans push ahead on tax cut plan

March 19, 1999 By admin

Republican legislators plan to move ahead next week with their 150-million dollar tax cut plan. Governor Vilsack suggested just 20-million dollars in property tax relief. House Speaker Ron Corbett, a republican from Cedar Rapids, hopes Vilsack comes Republicans’ way on the issue as they went Vilsack’s way earlier this week on an education package. House Republican Leader Brent Siegrist of Council Bluffs says legislators haven’t talked with Vilsack about middle ground. A bill which extends 73-million dollars in income tax cuts to Iowans will be debated in a House Committee next week.
