Democrat presidential candidate Bill Bradley spent another weekend in Iowa,meeting with the Iowa Democratic Party’s central committee and hanging outwith some old friends. Two of Bradley’s hometown friends from Crystal City, Missouri drove up toIowa to campaign with him. Rolla Herbert is six years older than Bradley andremembers him as a baby. The Herbert’s back door led, across their yards,to the Bradley’s back door. Herbert says the townsfolk expected Bradley toleave for the big lights of the big city.Bradley spoke to a crowd of over 200 in Grinnell on Saturday, then traveledto Des Moines to meet with the Democratic Party leaders. Bradley saidAmerica’s next President must “think big.”Gerry Lalonde is a Grinnell College classics professor who is supportingBradley because he can’t support Al Gore. Grinnell College student Seth Gitter of Columbus, Ohio, says Bradley saidthings a lot of politicians are afraid to say.
