Iowa teacher of the year visits White House

Iowa’s Teacher of the Year visited the White House today and got to meet thenation’s Chief Executive. The trip to Washington caps Maureen Hoffmann’s reign as Iowa’s top teacher.Hoffmann teaches 7th and 8th grade English in Shelby. She and all the otherstate’s teachers of the year got the tour of the Executive Mansion & shookhands with President Clinton.Hoffmann says the experience of going to Washington D-C has changed her viewof the profession and the education industry.Hoffmann & the other teachers will meet with U-S Education Departmentofficials Tuesday before heading home.
