Congressman Boswell calls for national school "stand down" day

Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell says American needs to sit down and havesome “kitchen table” talk about the rash of violence that has hit thecountry’s schools.Boswell, a Democrat from Davis City, is asking President Clinton to delcarea the national day to “stand down” schools to talk about the problem.President Clinton has proposed tougher gun laws in the wake of theshootings in Colorado. Boswell says new laws won’t solve the problem withoutsome discussion.Boswell says there will likely be some legislation passed by Congress in theaftermath of the Colorado shootings, but he says it’s too early to predictwhat it might be.
